Does the idea of having your 5 a day whilst incorporating a quick bevies sound very appealing. I do have to ask the question why Tesco and Sainsbury don’t seem to have many idea or banners around the fruit and veg isle to support the fact that booze and berries are good
Well to be serious have you even tried vodka Water melon? It’s so easy and such good fun for BBQ or picnic.
Basically drill a small hole with a corkscrew into the flesh and place a small funnel. Over the course of the next 6 hours pour in a bottle of Vodka preferable a flavored type. The key is being too consistent. You don’t have to stand cover the fruit for 6 hours use every time you remember. The liquid won’t automatically pour in it needs to filter through, hence why you need a funnel
Once completed put the fruit in the freezer or fridge consumer 24 hours later, not longer or will go to mush. Ideally eat in slices as you would do with watermelon or you can much up and have in a cocktail or with lemonade… It’s gorgeous!

A BLAST FROM THE PAST

I was watching TV the other night and during the breaks there were a number of adverts for alcho-pops. Some would think that these type of drinks a relativley new, but I remember them as far back as the early 90’s.

One of the first ones I can remember was Bacardi Breeze, then there was Castaway and a mixture of drinks called MD 202o.  One of my favourites was called a Blast Away, this was when you mixed a bottle of Diamond White with a bottle of Castaway in a pint glass, there was many a cloudy night after drinking this mix which tatsed like Lilt, but was just a little bit stronger.

The alcho-pop which seemed to Kick the whole craze off was a drink called Hoopers Hooch, Can you still get this ? It was a Lemonade type drink with a bit of a kick.  Since then there have been numerous other drinks invented, most of which I have never tried as I like to think my tastes are a bit more refined now.

Oh the memories !!!

Cheeky Cheeky

Well its cheeky Thursday so what better way than to have little look at Cheeky Vimto
It is so easy:-
• 275ml blue WKD
• 50ml port

Did you know time:-
As you can see there is no actually Vimto present in the drink but got its name as when you mixed, it tastes just like it, hence Cheeky Vimto (naughty Vimto)
It is thought that the Cheeky bit comes from “going for a cheeky half”.
It is often said the drink was invented by Kris Aidan Jones in the mid. Cheeky Vimto’s were made famous by lovely lass Charlotte Church, but really came to fashionable too when Dublin resident and socialite Samuel Dupernex started drinking them.

Original Vimto is made up of the juice of grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants (in a 3% concentration), flavoured with herbs and spices.

Vimto was born 1908 Manchester, (Yippee). It was originally had the name Vim Tonic as it was registered as a health tonic or medicine. It which was shortened to Vimto in 1912 and in 1913 classed as a cordial.
