As May day signals the start of summer in my eyes i thought it would be good to add some nice summer fruit punch’s. Gone tare he days, thank god, that it use to be the left overs of the over ripe fruit bowl mixed up with a slug of rum and dodgy wine. Please we are classy birds! Yeah yeah yeah its easy to just come up with the traditional  favourite -  fresh orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, sweetened cranberry juice & some chilled wine (chuck all together and serve cold) but i want new.

Although this one looks similar the odd change here and there do make a massive difference by god it has a punch!

English cold alcoholic fruit

  • 1 measure of Gin
  • 2 measures of Lemonade
  • 2 measure of wine or Champers
  • 1 measure of Orange Juice
  • 1 measure of Apple Juice
  • Lots of ice
  • Sliced oranges and lemons

Add  together mix and serve I like this one in particulr as none of that pester apple pieces floating about

What is it about the soaps everyone feature a pub queen vic, wool pack, the rovers all they seem to do is drink. Is it only me but when ever there is any issue before they never go home and discuss it like normal people  oh no first they have to go to the local, get everyone’s attention and tell the whole neighbourhood. Can you imagine that in normal life no one would even notice or care! Oh yeah look i maybe out of touch but who ever gets a carry out from the pub… haven’t they heard of offies or the corner shop or god forbid the 24 hour supermarkets Like anyone who go intotehpub and ask for the £10 bottle of wine from teh pub when you you can pay £4 for it at threashers!!!

Well I’m on abit of a health kick at the moment and that signals a cut back on the vino . But the effects have been odd look I’ve lasted two weeks and after a Glass with the girls this week i was surprised how much one glass or two bothered me the effects seemed to be so much quicker… how odd. I enjoy a glass or two like everyone and admittedly i am a bit of a shandy pants but i was a tad surprised. My hubby always laughs at me at the best of time and jokes of me being a giddy kipper but after not a sip for just two weeks i really am a light weight!

What is it about the sunshine every time the rays beat down my thoughts of a cold glass of Pinot or beer springs to mind. now i don’t mean I’m an alcoholic but all those happy memories and ideas spring to mind. Let me explain and take you back BBQS with friends, long afternoon lunches with the girls, hazy sunsets on holiday with my hubster. Come on when your hot and bothered after a long stuffy days in the riveting office thoughts of that glass of bubbles in the fridge do some thing to you that make it all worth while. Look I’m not obsessed but the social summer memories flood back….. pop that cork the sun is shining

Did you know that when Jay Z was   playing Manchester the other month his chosen place to pop a few corks was Ithaca in Manchester.  Don’t get me wrong i do like it but you do have  be quite picky when you go or else it can seem pokey. The food is Japanese and is gorgeous but the majority of  the times when i have been in there it is   bar upstairs, Very dark and intimate at the right time . If lucky enough to get in the private lounge then the you don’t get the problem of squeezing everyone!!

i just want to do a follow up from the blog i wrote last week about the Michael Caines Champagne and cocktail bar at the Abode Hotel in Manchester. To set the record straight its not run, owned or named after the aging 70 year old ‘blow the bloody doors off’ film star.

bm02_0

Michael CaineS(notice the S) reputation goes before him and has earned his two Michelin stars - serving distinctive modern European cuisine using the finest local and regional produce and ingredients. His experience stretches far and wide taking part in the Best British Food competition for the Queens 80th Birthdays.

Michael founded Michael Caines Restaurants in 1999 and stepped forward with the vision for the Partnership with the Abode Hotel Chain in 2003

I have to mention the fabulous grazing lunch time menu available at Manchester, Michaels menu offers you many smaller plates - as few or as many as you like with the suggestions of wines to go with.

In my opinion Blue Nun and is bit like Black tower it is either what you started out drinking when you were 15 and hide behind the sofa taking cheeky swigs out of it when no one was looking ( or was that just me). Or else is the doggie offering either a cheap skate or someone with actually no tastes buys you…. sorry but come on. But it still does make me smile when I see it at the offie or someone in front of me has it in their basket. So where does Blue nun come from? The name even makes me smile I imagine all there saintly nuns getting smashed in the monastery.
Blue Nun is German dates back to the 1920’s. It label; and name was seen as more commercially friendly and alternative to German existing ones with Gothic script and long, names. In the 80’s can you believe it sold over 1.25 million cases… but then the 80’s didn’t exactly breath taste and class now did they!

So in honour of my blog title i though it about time i toast the name by looking at double cocktails. Be warned though the effects could be double the trouble too

Double Orgasm

  • 2 part Tia maria
  • 2 part Baileys
  • 2 parts Cream
  • 4 parts Milk

Pour over ice into a shake, skae stain and serve. For a extre hit add 2 part southern comfort too.. and you will be seeing stars!

Two Love birds

  • 3 oz. Vodka
  • 2 oz. Lemon juice
  • 2 dash Dark rum
  • 1 oz. Grenadine
  • 1 cup Ice (crushed)

Mix together and over over ice

This does serve two hence the nam but i would double up on the above because it is so nice you won’t want to sahre
